In response to several requests, I am offering some simple book self-publishing packages. I have not done so up ’til now because the variables provide countless options and widely vary in difficulty. Nevertheless, I can give you a starting point—plus list a few of the options available for additional charges. If you have a complex book, your options are probably covered better on this page. But we can certainly add those options to the basic packages if that makes more sense to you.
Some simple book self-publishing packages
I use the word “simple” because these packages offer basic formatting, specified graphics, and basic self-publishing to Createspace and Draft2Digital or KDP Select. They include a b&w print version, a downloadable PDF, a reflowable ePUB, and a Kindle version. I will help you set up your accounts with CS and D2D or KDP, upload them for you, and get you ready to receive your royalties.
All packages (including pricing for more complex books) start with a firm quote,
fifty percent [50%] down, non-refundable, in advance.

Editing & copyediting
It’s probably better if you find your own editor/copyeditor with whom you have good, edifying communication. If you want me to get it done for you, it will be subcontracted through Bergsland Design. A firm quote will be given. Fifty percent down, non-refundable, in advance.
Final proofing
15¢ per page: Professional final typographic proofing, marked up in a PDF of the formatted book. The author decides what changes will be made
Adding graphics
$5.00 plus per image: Any fixes and corrections to inadequate images cost time and money.
- Must be high resolution: 300 dpi Photoshop image or vector PDF,
- Must be sharply focused: There is no fix for a blurry image
- Must be supplied in a usable format: PDF, PSD, AI, GIF, JPEG, or PNG. BMP images are normally not usable because of low resolution.
Fixes include cropping, color correction, sharpening, removal of unwanted detail, cleanup of a dirty image [spots, scratches, and so on]. Corrections charged with the preapproval of the author.
Publishing through IngramSpark
This supplier adds substantial costs. Plus it takes quite a bit longer to process.
- First, you need to own your own ISBN. This can cost as much as $125.00 for a single ISBN, just under $300.00 for ten, or $575.00 for a hundred.
- There is a title setup charge of $49.00
- Cost of printed proof
- Charges for changes to printed books
- And more
