Truly, practical spiritual warfare against our broken enemy can become anti-climactic. So much of our culture has become contaminated by concepts developed within a movie script. Fleshly horror pales in comparison to the mental torture.
If you’ve wondered why Christians are hated, this reveals the glorious truth. The enemy fears the power we wield in the name of Jesus our Messiah. More than that, he and his minions have no defense against Jesus. We are in Jesus, authorized to use His name in battle, so of course we’re hated.
A non-believer has no protection
This remains the truth never mentioned. However, believe it or not, any human has the power to say no. This simple fact shows us the reason why so few are actually possessed. But we’ll discuss this more in a future post.
The simple truth we need need to face becomes any non-believer can be a source of attack. Since most non-believers do not believe in Satan either, evil thoughts seem to be their own. Because of this, the enemy has free reign over their mind. This is what Adam, the male and female couple, handed over to the enemy when they ate the forbidden fruit. They are the source of authority for that rebellious angel. Mankind remains responsible for the corruption, perversion, and decay of the Earth.
The reality of practical spiritual warfare against our broken enemy
I’m leaving the scriptural proofs for future posts. What I’d ask you to consider revolves around the amount of actual content on the subject in the Letters of the New Testament. Proportionally, there is not much. Yet, Jesus talked about it and He regularly cleaned out the enemy. However, we saw something closer to mosquito control than the clashing of weapons. Jesus said, “Go,” and they left.
This battle exists and it can result in people being lost for eternity. It is first in the list of signs following given by Jesus when He commissions us at the end of Mark. “These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” MARK 16: 17 & 18 MEV
In scripture, a list often shows us the order of importance. Consider this: in the list of signs, casting out demons comes first and healing comes last. We put so much energy into healing. But, in most cases this only affects the flesh and has little effect on salvation. Getting cancer will not send you to Hell. On the other hand, casting out demons produces a spiritual effect which makes salvation possible.
I focus on salvation leading to spiritual maturity
Spiritual warfare has a large part to play in salvation. Spiritual activity during the process works on setting a person free from the enemy so he or she can chose to repent and believe in the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. We loose their spirit toward the Lord, so they can hear the Truth. We share scripture because it is filled with Truth. We tell them what the Truth did when He came to earth in the form of a man and shed His Blood on the Cross. The Way, the Truth, and the Life made salvation possible. We repent of who we were and what we did before we met Jesus. We ask Jesus into our life to be our Lord and master.
You will not understand these things until you have been born of God. If this hasn’t happened yet in your life, you need to take care of that first. Your choice is simple. Meet Jesus now!
