Doing what Jesus said today
Doing what Jesus said today is the call for every day. But there should be a comma after said. Because you need to be basing your daily living on what Jesus has said — to you personally.
The Bible can help you discern this. But what terrifies the institutional church, only you [by the power of the Holy Spirit] can know what Yeshua has told you. Your task is to cough up the faith to act on what He has told you to do.
Doing what Jesus said today is the call for every day
What He said is usually in the past. Those of us who have been following Jesus for decades should know exactly what He has told us to do. For example, He has told me to write transformative spirit-filled fiction.
If you just met Him, it’s the main thing you need to be asking Him. He designed you for a purpose. You need to find out what that is.
We are all unique. No one has any idea what you were designed to be—except the Lord. You must ask Him directly. It’s the only way to hear Him accurately.
Don’t tell me that you cannot hear Him. It’s a very simple issue to solve. Ask Jesus, “Will you please, Lord, show me how to hear you accurately and truthfully.” Show me how to hear you is a question Jesus will always answer. The problem is that neither I, nor anyone else, can tell you. Only Jesus can do that. If you think you’ve heard Him tell you, that’s not good enough. Tell Him, “Sorry, Lord, but that wasn’t clear enough for me.”
You need to know what Jesus told you to do
Do not give up. Be persistent. Don’t be a nag and a shrew. Just make sure you tell Him that you seriously want to know who you are and what you’ve been told to do.
He’ll tell you. He’s trustworthy. He wants you to know. But you have to ask.
