The Bible will not save you, only Jesus
The Bible will not save you, only Jesus. This is a large area of confusion in the American church today. Jesus himself made that clear in John 5: 40.
I had one of my characters in my current novel post about this on her blog. Sakura is a Japanese-American who was recently radically saved. She’s being mentored in a new believing mentorship school being built in Northfield, Minnesota. Helaena is her mentor. Let’s throw in another copy of the title for the SEO. Then I’ll let you read what she wrote.
The Bible will not save you, only Jesus
“Thank you, Lord. I really need your anointing for this one. I want to keep it loving. But, I believe I know what you were saying. Am I correct? … Thanks, Lord. I need your help on this one.”
Sakura quickly found Romans 2:29, 7:4, and II Corinthians 3:6. She prayed again, and started writing.

I guess I hit a nerve with my last post about Bringing the Life of Jesus. The Lord just delivered me and got me reborn a short while ago. So, I just thought everyone could see what I see in John 5:39-40. I’ve talked with my mentor, and prayed about it some more.
But, it is still clear that Jesus was rebuking people who thought eternal life was found in the scriptures.
He said, “You need to come to me to get life.” Actually, He said, “you refuse to come to me…”
Paul wrote about the same thing in Second Corinthians three, verse six. “Our competence is from God, who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not in a written code but in the Spirit; for the written code kills, but the Spirit gives life.” He talked about the same thing in Romans 2:29 and 7:4.
This is what Jeremiah was talking about in 31:33-34. It’s God speaking, “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Remember, we need to be able to talk with Jesus directly. He’ll love to talk with you. Just ask him, how can I talk with you, Jesus?

“Helaena? Will you come here and read this before I post it?”
She wheeled her chair over, and read the post. She looked at Sakura with a large smile. “The Lord anointed you, Sakura. I agree entirely, and I can sense the Holy Spirit in it. Have you decided what to call this one?”
“I don’t know. How about, The scriptures show you truth. But Jesus IS truth. With a capital IS?”
“I think that will work well. You heard the Lord. I’ll be praying that the Holy Spirit gets through to the people who got upset.” Helaena rolled back to her desk.
