The distraction of COVID-19 fear is foolishness
The distraction of COVID-19 fear is foolishness. I’m not saying that the virus is not dangerous. You should be following the CDC guidelines. But the fear is foolishness.
Life in the flesh is a terminal condition. Your flesh is going to die. There have only been two men in history whose flesh did not die: Enoch and Ezekiel. This is nothing new and the death of your flesh is no big deal.
Unless, of course, you have not come to know Jesus. Jesus knew about this. If anyone had reason to fear death, it was Jesus. Because He knew it was the cross for him. But He didn’t fear death, he feared the pain. Scripture calls it a Godly fear. He talked it over with the Father, and chose obedience—despising the fear.
In the days of His flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death. He was heard because of His godly fear. Though He was a Son, He learned obedience through the things that He suffered, and being made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him Hebrews 5: 7-9 MEV
The distraction of COVID-19 fear is foolishness
COVID-19 doesn’t present this fear. Sure, it’s dangerous. Certainly it’s possible you may die. But it’s not torture. The treatment for it is not pulling out your fingernails. If you get it, you’ll spend a week or so sick. You may die. But Death can be easily dealt with.
This is why the COVID-19 fear remains foolishness, at the core of the problem. The disease may be inconvenient. It may kill you or someone you love. But that’s a normal part of life on this sin-ridden planet. Jesus told us about the real fear.
“I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that can do no more. But I will warn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell. Yes, I say to you, fear Him. Luke 12:3-5 MEV
This legitimate fear will not be talked about by the media. But, it should be. This pandemic is one of the birth pangs Jesus talked about. He told us that as the end draws near there will be massive earthquakes, famines, and diseases. It will get worse and worse as the end draws near.
So, in the past month we have seen:
- locusts ravaging the globe from India and Pakistan, around the Persian Gulf, and all over eastern Africa. This will surely bring famines.
- a flurry of earthquakes. One even knocked the trumpet out of Moroni’s hand at the top of the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City.
- and a dangerous pandemic which may eventually kill over 100,000 people—but there are over 7.8 billion people on earth. So, your chances of dying from it are less than one in 8000 or .0001% [one ten thousandth]
So, none of this surprises me. It shouldn’t surprise you. It excites me for I know I will soon be with Jesus. I’m 75 and there is a very good chance the Lord will come for His Bride before my flesh dies.
So, the real problem remains. When your flesh dies, you are going to one of two places: heaven or hell. It is your choice. If you put your faith in Jesus, let Him come live within you, you’ll go the heaven. If you don’t you’ll go to the other place. You get to decide.
So, I can understand the fear of those who have chosen to go to hell. You should fear that. But you don’t have to go. You can choose to go to heaven any time. If you want to do that, do it now. A simple conversation with Jesus remains the only requirement. Click here, if you want to make this choice. I pray that you do.
