So, how can I explain Christian global warning principles without offense? In this day and age, it may not be possible. People seem to be actively seeking to be offended. Being offended does does not actually require thought.

As a believer who takes scripture literally, I do need to affirm that the globe is getting warmer. I’m not surprised. In fact, as Roger Melquist told me, “Of course it’s getting warmer. It has been ever since the ice age caused by the Flood.” But things were radically changed by that flood.

Pre-flood Christian global warming was not comprehensible

Most people, like myself, believe that the world before the flood was almost uniformly sub-tropical. The seasons, as we know them now, simply didn’t exist because the Earth’s axis was not tilted enough. God said in Genesis:

for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth…But a mist  arose from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.

No wonder the people thought Noah was crazy. But whether the flood was a result of the first rain storm or not, the results of the flood were the sedimentation, volcanic transformations, and igneous deposits of the geological record.

The storms roaring up the eastern seaboards of North America and Asia, or the eastern edge of Pangea, or however it was all configured before Peleg.

Regardless, sometime shortly after the flood, the Ice Age was triggered. Remnants of it lasted so long that its effects can still be seen today as Finland and Sweden slowly emerge above sea level— acres added every year. The weight of the ice has depressed the land which is now rebounding.

The world has been warming since the Ice Age

This is the bottom line assertion by Christian global warming believers. The second question which follows is: How warm is it going to get?

We find the answer to that in Revelation. But it’s nothing to fear. It’s just part of the great Tribulation.

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. ⁹ Men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give Him glory.

It is going to get extremely hot. It’s designed so that people will come to their senses and see that the Creator still has control over His creation—in hopes that they’ll repent and be saved.

Yes, global warming is real, and we haven’t seen anything yet
