Quick and easy letterspacing in FontLab
I decided to post this. It’s part of my new book, Practical Font Design Streamlined. I found as I was recording the videos for My Udemy course, Practical Font Design, that I had gradually developed a new, much faster, and more efficient workflow for designing fonts. It takes what was in the original three editions of Practical Font Design to a whole new level. This post is going to offer some pieces which will be referenced in the new book.
First of all, there is a presentation
This is a Keynote presentation. I will also post a PowerPoint version, but it’s not nearly as good. These are zipped archives:
Letterspacing.key The keynote presentation
Letterspacing.pptx The PowerPoint presentation
This will run you through the procedures without the demos. If you need the demos, take the Udemy course. If you are financially strapped, email me and I’ll give you a coupon for $15.
Finally, here’s a graphic for reference
You need it available as you start to add your Letterspacing As You Go while designing your new font.
