I was praying this morning and was brought back to the verses in Matthew 24 about his next coming in power.

I could talk for hours about how I think that might work. What His name might be. Who will be raptured and when. But I was reminded by the words of my favorite pastor. I was her associate pastor for many years, and I taught quite a bit on end-times speculation (for that is what it all is) for many years prior to helping in her church.

She forbid me to teach on end-times prophecy and I came to agree with her wisdom. Her point was this:

It is all speculation

We all know that this is true. The Lord confirmed that to me when He spoke very clearly in the early 1990s, “No person has it figured out, and no one ever will — and that includes you, David.” My pastor’s point was that end-time speculation usually diverts us from the real issue: Are you ready to go if He comes before you have time to read the end of this posting?

That’s the bottom line. I found that in all my teaching of prophecy, all we did was debate and speculate. Most of my sheep had lives in disarray and the speculation diverted them from the tremendously important work they needed to do to get themselves straight with the Lord.
