Two Color Spot Logo Redesign

OldBeautyLogo

Here we have a logo from a sophisticated beauty salon & spa in the midst of a trendy section of Minneapolis east of Lake of the Isles

The owners, Frankie & Eva Lombardi, are a couple who are into heavily involved in ballroom dancing. They love art deco and the life of the Roaring Twenties.

Frankie is actually effecting zoot suits, spats and all, with a snappy fedora, sharp padded shoulders, leather braces, and the whole routine.

Eva wears tight slinky satin gowns that look like they were movie costumes from a Busby Berkeley dance spectacular. She actually looks quite a bit like the woman in their logo (which is a bit of clip art they found in an old Dover book). If you decide to use the logo above right for the basic drawing, click on it and save it to your hard drive -- it's a vector PDF traced from the original.

They love their logo, but the type has always bothered them. (THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE OF THE TYPO -- IT SHOULD BE Fatale.) It is far too mechanical and cold for their tastes. The original designer didn't understand where they were coming from and simply picked Bauhaus because he knew that it was from the thirties. Their current color scheme of royal blue and silver is also entirely too cold and impersonal.

They have come to strongly believe
that the circular nature of the logo
is at the root of what they don't like

Their business is based on warm personal relationships. Frankie and Eva are extremely involved in the night club scene that surrounds their establishment, and their little medallion is simply too much. They are looking for a redesign more in keeping with their aesthetic, leading their friends into the rich decadence they enjoy.

They have just completed a major redecoration of their shop -- along with doubling its size to accommodate the recently added spa (which is solidly booked for the next six months). The new decor has soft but rich green walls, warm wood furnishings with a lot of copper and brass. An interior glass-roofed garden courtyard is lushly tropical.

You are engulfed in a warm embrace of soft, luxurious feminine luxury as soon as you walk in the door. They pamper their customers, enveloping them in an ambiance of richness, decadence, and comfort. They are, by far, the most expensive shop in town and worth every penny. Women leave their shop with cares and worries stripped away—feeling like they have been amply prepared for whatever their day and night will bring. From message therapy and hot mud baths to luxurious pedicures, Frankie and Eva make a woman feel beautiful and desirable. It's a wonderful woman's beauty emporium.

Your instructions

Frankie assures you that there is no hurry. The only deadline is the dance contest they are sponsoring at Club Metro next month. The posters for that need to be to the printer by the end of next week. The entire contest is an elaborate promotion of their new look. They are really excited about it (actually, Frankie whispers in your ear, as they prepare to exit, "She's a little tense about all of this").
