The Fictional writings |
As a hippie in the late 1960s, and a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BFA in Printmaking, he wears the title of Jesus Freak proudly. David has been an artist and designer since 1967 (as far as he can recall that far in the distant past).
He actually started his design career working for an occult publisher in St. Paul. He spent several wasted years as an ego-maniacal heathen fine artist until he found his true calling as a creative called by God to produce beauty for the kingdom.
That has not been a straight or easy path. Through the years he has tried many media, produced thousands of pieces (most that were pure trash) and taught hundreds of students practical graphic design & digital publishing in 2-year colleges.
In recent years he has pulled out of the public arena entirely. Though not a hermit, he is certainly a recluse, living in a small 2-story, brick home that is over a hundred twenty five years old on a tree-lined street in Mankato, Minnesota. Mainly he writes now, of his experiences and beliefs. Increasingly, he writes fiction.
His passion is typography, page layout, & book design. He's written seven books published by others and helped with a few more. But the best part of the books for him were the six that he was able to design and produce in their entirety.
Recently he's written several books to upgrade his earlier books plus a book on font design that he has released on-demand through Lulu, CreateSpace, and Smashwords.
He's been in print production since the late 1970s, and helped to develop some of the first materials to teach the new digital print paradigm in the early 1990s.
His joy is teaching scripture which he has been doing since shortly after he met the Lord in 1974. He has come to specialize in studies of scripture verse by verse encouraging any question by any one, without fear, knowing that the answer will always show the Lordship of Jesus again.
David is fond of saying that he feels a knight in service to his king — a rather ragged knight, a scout out on the fringes watching for the enemy. But then what the heck does that mean anyway?
His goal is to find an agent or publisher to take care of getting the books into the hands of others. He is tired of marketing himself & now wants to serve others and help them become mature believers.
