Writing it.
Cinco de Mayo has new meaning:It begins with Deborah “Stones” Stoner recovering from a gut wound inflicted by a Pakistani bullet in a CIA op gone bad near Jalalabad. She’s assuming she is finished with the violence and killing, but finds herself saving a young man and his wife from a savage beating inflicted by three suspicious Mexican thugs in a Walmart parking lot in New Mexico.
From a senator running for president who is a friend of her parents, she learns that radical Mexican forces are organizing with resources that are completely unexpected. She is attacked again by the Mexican soldiers who are living with a radical terrorist who trained them in the Rio Grande valley south of Albuquerque.
She and her parents find themselves deeply involved as a cherished myth of the Hispanic majorities in the Southwest is brought to life:
The Chinese have found an opportunity to bring this myth into reality using two highly placed American military traitors, the Commander of Fort Bliss in El Paso and the Commander of the Navy Southwest in San Diego. They outfit and protect a politicized drug cartel boss in Chihuahua who has well-trained, disciplined soldiers driving thousands of armored trucks fitted with Chinese weaponry manufactured in Chihuahuan factories built by the Chinese.
An explosive Cinco de Mayo morning seals off all access through the southern Rocky Mountains and brings a massive invasion of New Mexico and Arizona from Chihuahua. Stones begins working for her parents to stop this evil. Her mother was a legendary CIA assassin who left because of the lies and became a pastor. Her stepfather is still a weapons designer for Sandia Lab, a gunsmith for the Clandestine Service, and a small producer of custom armored vehicles. They founded Black Sail: a covert problem solving company. A warrior shows up at Black Sail from the Albuquerque battle for Kirtland AFB with a report that the invaders have the latest in Chinese weaponry plus thousands of American hostages. Sparks fly between him and Deborah, shocking both of them to the core.
This assault is well planned and politically strong. A new nation is created—backed by American military power and a ruthless Mexican force holding thousands of hostages. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California break away as part of Aztlan. Dozens of nations immediately recognize the new nation and send ambassadors to Santa Fe. A President controlled by an evil Secretary of State immobilizes the rest of our military by executive order while accepting Aztlan’s birth on the world stage as legitimate.
The senator must decide if the Lord wants him to fight this invasion in direct rebellion to the current president. It’s traitorous if he has heard the Lord wrong. Black Sail serves as the coordinating organization because federal employees are not allowed to make a move by the current president.
Black Sail has the only assets in the region that are not shut down. Like King David’s mighty men, they serve the country’s leader. But who is that leader? Are they traitors or heroes? Can they stop the evil, keeping the US whole?
Stones is captured by the terrorist and his witch. The spiritual and pharmacological assault from the witch overwhelms her and she must decide if she actually believes. Will she turn to the Lord her parents serve in fullness? She does, gloriously but now there is a new question. Can Deborah become a covert assassin as a true believer? The warrior becomes her major source of help and comfort from his hospital bed at Walter Reed. He lost a leg in the assault to recapture Stones.
The Lord sends unexpected help to win back Fort Bliss. A Black Sail team helps take out the Admiral in San Diego. Stones eliminates the Chinese connection. The Secretary of State is exposed to the world. The senator is elected president. But it is not easy, nor a sure thing.
Throughout it all, the reader enjoys real believers following the Lord, loving each other, falling in love, dealing with major trauma, and coming to grips with an unusual calling on their lives. This is an in depth examination of what David’s might men would look like in the 21st century serving a leader given to them by God.
A June 2002 Zogby poll of Mexicans found that a substantial majority of Mexican citizens believe that southwestern America is rightfully the territory of Mexico and that Mexicans do not need the permission of the U.S. to enter.
"The United States has had no experience with what is now taking place in the American Southwest...This Hispanization...is sometimes called the Reconquista..."
A University of New Mexico Chicano Studies professor predicts a new, sovereign Hispanic nation within the century, taking in the Southwest and several northern states of Mexico. Charles Truxillo suggests the “Republica del Norte,” the Republic of the North, is “an inevitability.”
He envisions it encompassing all of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and southern Colorado, plus the northern tier of Mexican states: Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
